Her Samba    Journey

Hi! I’m Danielle Lima, born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and now living in Los Angeles. Samba has been the heartbeat of my life since childhood, growing up surrounded by the vibrant music, movement, and culture of Brazil. From my early dance lessons to performing on stage, I fell in love with Samba’s rhythm, energy, and joy—and I’ve dedicated my life to sharing it with others. I had the incredible honor of parading in the Rio de Janeiro Carnaval for many years, experiencing firsthand the passion, creativity, and community of Samba at its grandest scale. After moving to the United States, I taught, performed, and built a Samba community in New York City for over 20 years, choreographing for parades, Samba festivals, and events. Now in Los Angeles, I continue to teach, perform, and inspire, bringing Samba to a new audience through both in-person and online classes, performances, workshops, and community events.

Teaching Philosophy

My classes are fun, inclusive, and empowering. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced dancer, I aim to help you: Build confidence and express yourself through dance. Improve technique, rhythm, and musicality. Connect with a supportive, like-minded community. Experience the rich culture and history of Samba. I believe dancing is not just about steps—it’s about feeling the music, celebrating life, and sharing joy with others. Every class is a chance to move, lift your spirit, and connect with the energy of Samba.

Performing

I perform professionally at shows, festivals, and private events, spreading the energy, culture, and excitement of Samba wherever I go. Beyond learning Samba steps, I hope people take away confidence, joy, and a deep respect for the art of Samba and its place in Brazilian culture. Samba is not just about movement—it’s about expressing yourself, celebrating life, and connecting with the music and history behind it. I want students and audiences to leave feeling energized, inspired, and part of a vibrant community, carrying both the rhythm and the cultural richness of Samba into their everyday lives.

"Through Samba, I hope my students discover joy, build confidence, and connect with the vibrant culture and history of Brazil"
